Amuse-Mint Bubble Brick 90g

Turn bath time into a beach party with our plastic-free Amuse-mint Bubble Brick. Made with bioglitter, ride this minty wave around five times per bar. Just break off a chunk, drop it in the water and watch it foam into a shimmering ocean blue — easy as A-B-Sea!

NOTE: contains Sweet Almond Oil

Buying me as a gift?  I come wrapped in paper so I don't get damaged in transit, but I'm designed to have zero wrapping.  If you leave me wrapped up I will be fine, but my blue will leak onto the paper a bit.  Don't worry, it's totally normal and I'll be fine!

Sodium Bicarbonate, Sodium Lauryl Sulfoacetate, Glycerin Potassium Bitartrate (Cream of Tartare), Zea Mays (Corn Starch), Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Almond Oil), Polysorbate 80, Mentha Spicata (Spearming Essential Oil), CI 42090, CI 77491, Rayon, Aqua, Urea, Shellac, CI 77019, Synthetic Fluorphlogopite, CI 77891, Tin Oxide

How to Use

Using our Bubble Brick is easy!  While running the bath, just break off a chunk and hold it under the running water while crumbling it in your hand until completely disintegrated.  Bits may drop into the bottom of the bath - that’s no problem, just swish the water around to completely dissolve them (this also helps make even bigger bubbles!).  If you have low water pressure swish the bath water around to make lots of bubbles.  The end result is just as many bubbles as liquid bubble bath, and no plastic - Fantastic!

For storage we recommend storing our brick on a small plate or soap dish.  After the first use our brick will fit into a Rowdy Kind tin, but when you first receive it it will be a little too big.

Ingredients Information

Why are Sodium Bicarbonate (Baking Soda) and  Potassium Bitartrate (Cream of Tartar) in your brick?

Have you done that experiment with your kids where you make a volcano yet?  Remember that?  Yup!  Well, that was Baking Soda.  And Baking Soda is doing the same thing in our bubble brick- making it fizz up and stay fizzy in the bath producing bubbles!  The Cream of Tartar does the same thing - together they're better than alone!

What is Sodium Lauryl Sulfoacetate and what does it do in the bubble brick?

Sodium Lauryl Sulfocetate (SLSa) is a non-sulfate surfectant - it means it's something that cleanses and bubbles, but it's sulfate-free.  When the baking soda produces oxygen, the SLSa forms the bubble structures around it making it rest on the surface of the bath!

What is Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond Oil)?

Sweet Almond Oil is the pressed oil of almonds.  We have it in our bars because it helps offset the drying tendency of Baking Soda.  Unfortunately it is a tree nut oil, so if you have a tree nut allergy we'd suggest caution and if in doubt steer clear.

What is Polysorbate 80?

Polysorbate 80 is a plant-based liquid used to bring all the ingredients of of Bubble Brick together and make sure it really bubbles in the bath.  It is very gentle for skin, which is why we've used it in our bubble brick, because your kid is going to be literally swimming in it we're trying to use the most gentle skin ingredients possible.

What is Mentha Spicata (Spearmint Essential Oil)?

An essential oil derived from pressed leaves of Spearmint, it's what gives our bubble brick it's refreshing smell!

What are CI numbers?

This is the "official" way to refer to colours in cosmetics - in this case the blue!

Why does the Bubble Brick have Rayon, Urea,  Aqua, Tin Oxide, Synthetic Fluorphlogopite, & Shellac in it?

These are all used to make the sparkling biodegradable glitter that's sprinkled on our bars.  They make it stay sparkly in your bath without cluttering the environment in plastic particles.  What is Biodegradeable glitter!  Good question.  It is small flakes that are made from plants, mostly eucalyptus trees, that are sustainably managed.  These glitters are 100% plastic free, aluminium free and antimony free (i.e. do not damage the environment or skin and disappear entirely into nature).  It is compliant with all the microbead and microplastic legislation.

How long does one Bubble Brick last?

One bubble brick should be good for at least 5 baths (so break off your chunks accordingly!).  If you have really hard water at home, you may need a bit more per bath in order to get the desired bubble volume.  If it doesn’t foam up for you it may be due to lack of water pressure, so really swish the bath water about to make bubbles.

What age is the Bubble Brick suitable for?

We recommend the Bubble Brick for kids 3+

Will it stain my bathtub or towels?

NO!  We’re mums, so we made sure of this (we have enough on our plates).  Although our bubble brick turns the bath water into a beautiful blue oasis, we assure you it will not stain the tub, towels, or family dog (should he choose to join-in on the fun).  If you do get any blue on a towel, PJs or anything else, just rinse it in water or wash it, and the blue will come right out.

Why doesn’t your Bubble Brick have the same qualification as your other products?

We heard from many of you that you wanted a plastic free bubble bath option from us - and we were determined to deliver.  Despite our bubble brick being one of the best for kids’ skin on the market AND being plastic free, it is just not possible at this time to make a functional bubble brick that is free from ingredients like sulfates, PEGs, or palm oil.  That being said - we are continuing to work innovate to try to make this happen in the future!

Why did you put Almond Oil in the bubble brick?

We put Almond Oil into our brick because some kids find the Baking Soda a little drying, so to counteract that we add Almond Oil which is a gentle moisturiser which is often used to treat eczema or dry skin. A skin allergy to almonds is quite rare, but we know that food tree nut allergies (which include Almonds) are not rare.  Given that kids’ skin is thinner than adult skin, it’s probably best to avoid this product if your child has a tree nut allergy unless you know they don’t react to Almond Oil.

Bubble brick - great bubbles!

Quite expensive for a little brick, but great bubbles! My girls loved it, and were just disappointed it got used up so quickly!! Not sure I'll be purchasing frequently, but a nice gift/treat.

Finally, no more plastic bottles on the bath tub

The kids absolutely love their new bubble brick! It smells lovely and paints the water slightly blue - oh, the excitement! And Mummy is happy too, because there's finally a bath product that is made for kids with kids in mind, and because we're going to use even less plastic from this year.

a bit early to say properly

Its a bit expensive for what it is and I dont like the small. However its a Christmas present so I cant say yet how it works as bubble bath and the recipient might really like it

Lovely bubbles 😍

This smells lovely first of all like spearmint and looks so exciting, my daughter was so happy opening the box. We have a bath every night and although it says 5 times we’ve used it in about 7 baths now and we’re about half way through it. I’ll definitely buy it again.
Also my daughter’s skin is very sensitive and prone to sore patches and she has not reacted to this or the oat soap at all.

Magic mermaid bubbles!

This is utterly brilliant. No idea how it works but it does! Makes a good amount of bubbles, doesn’t leave behind any residue (either on skin or on the bath!), and kind to skin. My two girls declared it to make “magic mermaid bubbles” as it turns the water blue which they found intriguing, and loved splashing around pretending to be mermaids in the sea. They didn’t want to get out!
