Rowdy Kind started with a series of challenging questions from Kate’s son Chris, then 7, during bathtime one evening: “Why do we use plastic bottles if they are so bad?” and “Why are you still using baby shampoo on me?” started the search for a better bathtime solution. Kate wanted something that was made of quality ingredients and specifically formulated for kids’
sensitive skin, and Chris wanted something that wasn’t for babies, gender neutral (not Pink vs Blue), was “Cool and Fun” and most importantly plastic free!
A few months later, Kate was visiting then new mum Anne Marie (fun fact, Anne Marie is Kate’s sister-in-law) in Canada and shared the concept of Rowdy Kind. The entire vacation quickly became a working session and the two mums were officially on a joint plastic free bathtime mission.
Fast forward to March 2020, Rowdy Kind was soft-launched in a few select local retailers and with a fabulous group of tester families. Two weeks later… Hello Covid-19, their first major entrepreneurial challenge. “We were devastated for about 24 hours, and then decided we were still going to go for it” - The women launched their website and social media a week later. It didn’t take long to see that Rowdy Kind had potential, it started to sell, mums were telling other mums’ about us, and the reviews were glowing. By October 2020 the full range of plastic free bodycare for kids was introduced.
In addition to developing a product that meets kids’ specific skin needs and is better for the
planet, Kate & Anne Marie knew they wanted to celebrate the powerful bath-time bonding moment that led to the birth of Rowdy Kind — which is why they also utilize Rowdy Kind to support families in need through their regular Rowdy Acts of Kindness initiatives. “Kind is in our brand name for a reason” they say, setting their sights high to make a positive impact for the next generation as they #raisethebathbar
